WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
| Trepagnier when he was drafted threw around 89-92. He fanned 69 in 64 IP in high school in 2010 and signed a letter of intent with Bossier Parish CC. Like most of the prep RHPs the Pirates draft, his size should give him some projection. He signed about a month after the draft. By March 2011, he was throwing only 87-89 in training camp, but some pitchers don’t throw at their best velocity early in camp.
2010 Mostly pitched well in the GCL. His ERA was high, but his numbers suffered from one terrible outing in which he allowed six earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. 2011 Returned to the GCL and struggled, allowing a .308 opponents’ batting average and posting a much lower K rate than in 2010. 2012 Trepagnier took a step backward in 2011 and returned to the GCL again. This time he showed significant improvement, with his fastball velocity increasing to 92-93 at least some of the time. He also started to show a good slider. He moved up to State College at the end of the year and got into two games. Trepagnier made good progress in 2012, showing the kind of stuff that could allow him to develop into a relief prospect. Despite pitching just briefly at State College, he’ll move up to the West Virginia bullpen. |
