WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES

Fuselier’s numbers in college weren’t as impressive as what you typically see, but his school seems to have played in a slightly low-offense environment.  He was the team’s second-best hitter in his junior year.  He saw a spike in his power in 2011, mostly from extra base hits, which is notable considering the new bats.  He also pitched some in college.  He’s a good all around athlete, with a good arm.  He signed shortly after the draft.

2011
A-:  213/314/257, 183 AB, 4 2B, 2 3B, 23 BB, 36 K, 9-17 SB

Fuselier struggled in his introduction at State College.  He had a good walk total, but hit for very little power.  He struggled equally against LHPs and RHPs.  He split his time mostly between left and right, with seven games in center.  He recorded five assists from right in just 23 games.

Fuselier opened 2012 in extended spring training.  He’s most likely to be an organizational player, so the Pirates could assign him to either class A team in the event of an opening, or he could return to State College.
