WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES

Myles is a speedy center fielder who likes to run whenever possible.  He also played football for South Grand Prairie.  Myles had a commitment to Howard University, but signed about a week before the deadline.

2011
R:  167/167/167, 6 AB, 2 K

Got into two games at the end of the GCL season.

2012
R:  279/365/333, 111 AB, 2 2B, 2 3B, 15 BB, 24 K, 12-17 SB

Myles opened 2012 in the GCL, which may show the Pirates aren’t convinced yet about his bat.  He hit for average and got on base well, but didn’t show any power.  He didn’t play after early August, apparently due to some injury.

2013
R:  291/367/305, 141 AB, 2 2B, 15 BB, 29 K, 8-12 SB
A-:  255/407/340, 47 AB, 2 3B, 12 BB, 9 K, 7-9 SB

The Pirates sent Myles back to the GCL once its season opened, which wasn’t exactly a vote of confidence.  He hit about the same as he had the year before.  They moved him up to Jamestown in mid-July.  He didn’t hit quite as well there, but he drew a lot of walks.  He still didn’t take full advantage of his speed on the bases.

Myles is making slow progress.  He’ll be at West Virginia in 2014, possibly starting initially while Austin Meadows recovers from a hamstring injury.
