WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
| Ludwig is a Yale senior who improved significantly in his last year. Baseball America didn’t rate him among its top 500 draft prospects and didn’t include him in its regional writeup. He throws the standard four pitches, hitting 94 with his fastball, and had solid K rates in college. The Pirates signed him for $5,000, considerably less than the slot amount of $125,000.
2012 Ludwig pitched most of the summer out of the State College bullpen and did very well, allowing very few baserunners and just a .196 opponents’ average. He moved up to West Virginia for four games and continued to pitch well. Ludwig had a good start to his career. He’ll start 2013 in the West Virginia bullpen. |
