| Santiago is a big righty who was already nearly 22 when he signed. He throws in the low-90s.
2012 Santiago didn’t pitch especially well after signing, walking more than he struck out and hitting a lot of batters (eight). He pitched exclusively in relief. Despite his weak showing, the Pirates brought Santiago to camp. They’ll sometimes send older players coming out of the Latin American summer leagues to the New York-Penn League, so it’s conceivable Santiago could end up at Jamestown instead of in the GCL. |
