WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES

Trey Supak is a projectable righty with a college commitment to Houston.  At 6’5″, 210 pounds, he has room to fill out his lanky frame.  He sits in the low-90s with his fastball, touching 94 MPH.  Supak doesn’t have much stamina, so he sees a drop in his velocity as he goes along.  He has a curve ball that has the chance to be average and his change-up also has potential to be average, giving him a chance to have three average pitches that he has good control over.  His upside doesn’t sound too high, but if he fills out his frame, you might see a jump in his velocity and stamina, which would make him a solid starter.  Supak was rated 99th overall by Baseball America.  The Pirates signed Supak surprisingly quickly and he’ll no doubt report to the GCL.  His bonus was $1M, $228,000 above the slot amount.
